Outdoor Learning

Engage curiosity and inspire environmental stewardship

FOREST FRIDAYS
FOR K – 5 T H Grade

Forest Fridays are the centerpiece of Outdoor Learning at WCFS. Each week, kindergarten and an additional grade head to a natural area such as ChesLen Preserve, Hibernia Park, or French Creek State Park to explore, discover,
and reflect. More Forest Fridays information can be found here.

Benefits of Learning Outside

Through adventures at local parks and nature preserves, we engage curiosity, inspire environmental
stewardship, and cultivate a love of nature that children will carry with them for life.

Our program provides the space for creative, unstructured play, supported risk-taking, and collaborative learning, helping children build essential social, emotional, and physical skills.

Outdoor learning also supports academic growth by deepening scientific understanding, sparking inquiry across subjects, and encouraging critical thinking.
