How many students are enrolled at West Chester Friends School?

There are 150 students enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year. An average class size for grades pre-kindergarten through fifth is about fifteen students.

What is the average ratio of students to teachers?

In The Friends Playschool, the ratio is five students per teacher.

In the Pre-Kindergarten, there are two teachers for up to 18 students.

In the Kindergarten, there are up to two teachers for up to 18 students.

In first through fifth grades, classes are about 18 students. Students may be assigned small groups for math, literature, science, technology, art and physical education.

What do children do for lunch?

Students may bring their lunch each day, they may purchase from the Lunch Program, or they may do both.  The Lunch Program offers a healthy menu which may include homemade soup and sandwiches, pasta and pizza, and may be purchased one or more or all days each week, or not at all.  Organic two percent milk is offered to children free of charge (or they may bring their own drinks).

 

What are the before and after school care hours?

Before Care begins at 7:30 am and is offered free of charge.  After School Care is provided until 6:00 pm, at a rate of $9.50 per hour.  Students may come each day, or “drop in” as needed.

 

Are there After School activities?

Yes!  Students may participate in a variety of activities which change through the year, including yoga, dance, Math Club, Makers Club, Book Club, Business Club, sports, knitting and other fun. Students choose these depending on their age.  

 

Are students able to bus to WCFS?

Yes, children are often bussed from West Chester, Unionville, Downingtown, Coatesville, Kennett Square and Great Valley School Districts.  Bus routes, eligibility of children to ride, pick up and drop off location and times are at the discretion of the school district.  Please contact School Secretary Toni Fritz at 610-696-2962 for more information.
